Brittany and Jeremy have been together almost forever, so to get to witness them say their vow to love each other forever was something their families have been waiting for! The evening before the wedding, at the rehearsal, I had the pleasure of meeting their families and lending a hand to get some last minute things done. They were cool as cucumbers, just ready to enjoy all the next day was going to bring. Oh course, being June in Central Alberta, the next day bought rain. Buckets of it! Luckily enough, it tapered off and cleared for their beautiful ceremony. Jeremy and his groomsmen mingled with arriving guests. He walked with his dad Brad, up the aisle, hugged him tight and stood at the front waiting for his beautiful bride. One by one, the bridesmaids made their way up the aisle where they were met with a groomsman to accompany them to their spot. Brittany’s parents came through the archway and Jeremy finally got to see Brittany for the first time that day. The smile that he smiled was the biggest I’ve ever seen Jer smile! Brittany, between her parents, walked up the aisle with her eyes on his. The ceremony went by so quickly! The rain held off for the first kiss, the signing of the registry, the processional, receiving line and family photos! It was such a wonderful day!
The wedding party headed in to Springbrook, where the bride and groom live, to the old army barracks for photos! We did end up trying to outrun the rain…but lost. Jeremy’s dad Brad delivered us a supply of umbrellas and off we went to the train bridge in downtown Red Deer! Nothing held these two and their fantastic wedding party back!!
After arriving back at the Valley Centre Hall for the grand entrance, Grace was said by Jeremy’s Aunt. Supper was served and speeches began. Big belly laughs and the occasional tear filled the hall with speeches from Jasmine, Jeremy’s sister and Ami, Brittany’s best friend toasting the bride. Brett and Nate, Jeremy’s groomsmen toasted (or roasted!) the groom. Brad and Jasmine spoke about welcoming Brittany in to the family, finally, and Roxanne and Ken, Brittany’s parents, welcomed Jeremy’s family in to theirs. The speeches and stories were funny, touching and from the heart!
The reception started of with Brittany and Jeremy’s first dance as husband and wife. That pretty much set the tone of the evening and the dancing didn’t stop until the DJ unplugged and packed up. The party was such a celebration for the newlyweds!
The wording on their invitations came from their own parents’ wedding invitations!
Brittany’s dress, from Elite Bridal in Lacombe, had just a touch of blush pink in it! It was stunning!
A first look between a bride and her bridesmaids is so cute!
Brittany walked down the stairs to her Dad and had a little moment with him before leaving the house.
You can tell from these excited faces that these fellas were bound and determined to have a good day!
His groomsmen did a great job making sure Jeremy looked sharp for his bride!
The ceremony space was beautiful. It took an army of family and friends to mow, haul things in and out and set up!
How happy do these two look!!??
A sampling of the family photos.
Springbrook Barracks was a great backdrop for our wedding party photos!
The good looking wedding party!
When the rain decided to rear its head again, we ventured to a covered loading dock!
Where I asked the guys to jump and they committed and totally nailed it!
The rain also gave me the opportunity to get some great details shots in the reflection of puddles!
As you can see from the grey sky and wet bridge, the rain didn’t stop for us!
Brittany was the creative force behind the reception decor. She spent months and many many hours DIYing table runners, burlap covered jars, bows, signs…the girl is amazing!
Speeches!
The first dance as husband and wife!
The traditional parent dance. Brittany danced with her father Ken and Jeremy danced with Kaye, one of his mother’s best friends.
Britt, Jer and I snuck outside along the side of the hall for some golden hour portraits!
These two are just perfect!
Doesn’t Jeremy look good!
And Brittany. Not only is she the kindest and nicest girl ever, she’s also the most beautiful!
Dancing!!
Congratulations to you Mr and Mrs Hestad! I wish you all the love, health and happiness the world has to offer!
