Melanie and Robbie’s wedding took place East of Red Deer in the town where Robbie’s dad grew up. Halkirk, Alberta is nestled amounts the Paintearth Coulees, about 150KM fro Red Deer! While their guests travelled from all over the place, the driving was worth it! A down-home feel fit the wedding perfectly. Originally the couple was supposed to have had an outdoor ceremony, but the threat of rain took them inside the cutest little white church I’ve ever seen!! The ceremony was full of laughs and love! Renamarie Hicks, the officiant from Stettler did an incredible job!
Some of Melanie and Robbie’s favourite parts of their day were travelling to a coulee near Circle Square Ranch and being lead to one of the most beautiful areas by none other than NHL vet Shane Doan’s mother! Talk about a private escort!! Bernice is just the most wonderful person!! The fellas in the wedding party had a million questions for her and her husband Bernie 😉 By the way…one of Melanie’s bridesmaid’s ended up breaking her foot shortly before the wedding and had to navigate the ENTIRE wedding on crutches! You’ll see in the photos how she did! Nothing held her back from her bridesmaid duties!
What stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the reception for the bride and groom was when all of their guests surround them and took their turn giving them each a spin around the dance floor! You know what I’m talking about…right? When the DJ plays “I Knew The Bride (When She Used To Rock & Roll)” is so much fun! Especially after a few drinks!
Sneaking out for golden hour photos with their puppies was a favourite moment of Mel and Robbie’s too! We took 15 minutes during their dance and walked to a green space and took advantage of the beautiful golden light! Their dogs had a floral collar and a cute little tux!! They were so excited to see their fur babies after a day away from them and we could definitely tell that the pups were happy to see them! My assistant Kirsten was in charge of the dog handling and had us in stitches the whole time! Melanie actually wrote me that “the amount of laughs we had while your poor assistant put up with my muts was hilarious! She was a trooper!” We had such a fun time!!
Congratulations to you Mel and Robbie! Getting to know you, your families and your closest friends was so much fun! I wish you all the health,
love and happiness our world has to offer!
If you’re recently engaged and planning a wedding and you like running shoes more than you like heels, nachos and beer over nightclubs or you wish that cake could be considered a food group of it’s own, then I’m your girl!
