WPPI Styled Elopement

At the beginning of March, I met Christy and Nate who modelled in a styled shoot Red Rock Canyon, Nevada! I was there attending WPPI for the second year in a row. WPPI is a huge convention for professional photographers with many classes and activities to learn and grow from. It’s held every year and it’s always such an amazing learning experience.

This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in this particular location with the talented Stephanie Reeder of Stephanie Reeder Photography.  You can read about last year’s shoot and view the photos here!

The Couple

Christy is actually Stephanie’s sister! She and Nate are pros in front of the camera! The happy couple had already said their vows and been pronounced husband and wife this past September, but they graciously donned their formal wedding attire and hung out with us for the afternoon in the cold and rain spattered desert. They still have that ‘newly wed’ glow! Nate whispered in Christy’s ear and kissed her temple, Christy snuggled in tight to Nate like there wasn’t an army of photographers watching their every move, fingers on their triggers shutter buttons.

The Location

Red Rock Canyon is breathtaking. Especially for me, living in Central Alberta, where the land is flat farmer’s fields every way you look! The colours running through the mountains, the way the fog spills over the peaks. The little bits of shrubbery that cling to you as you walk by. The area is a national conservation area that requires a special permit for us to shoot in. Tons of tourists make their way here each year to take in the views and experience a little bit of the desert environment.
