Kayla and RJ have been ‘Kayla and RJ’ for as long as some of us can remember. They’ve been a couple so long that most of their friends and family said FINALLY when they got engaged, instead of congratulations! They’ve travelled all over together, experienced so many things with one another. They share a love of family, wine, fine foods and Coca-Cola. They appreciate each other’s quirks and take joy in pampering each other. You can take a trip down memory lane and view their engagement session here.
Kayla grew up across the street form Christ King Catholic Church in Stettler. It was only fitting that she and RJ have their ceremony there and take their vows in front of God and their loved ones. The architecture of the church is beautiful; classic and regal, just like the bride. Father Don lead a ceremony that was full of just the right amount of seriousness and humor.
The bride and groom chose to host their reception at the Stettler Community Hall. They spent an entire day decorating it and transforming it into one of the most beautiful places their guests had ever seen! Blue light glowed around the room, the dance floor was lit by a spectacular chandelier, black chair covers and linens completed the look. On each table the guests were gifted an old fashioned bottle of Coca-Cola with a red and white paper straw to take home. A candy bar lined one wall in the hall, twinkling trees were placed around the room. Klay the DJ emceed and played a great selection of music for the couple and guests. The meal, created by Teresa’s Catering, was exactly what the bride and groom had wanted, food that was incredible. Desserts that made your mouth water even as you walked by! The speeches made by RJ’s sister and neice, Kayla’s siblings and both the bride and groom’s parents were so heartfelt and sincere. There were tears, but a lot of them were tears of laughter! Instead of following tradition and throwing a bouquet and garter, the bride and groom presented the couple who had been married the longest, RJ’s grandparents who’ve been married for 59 years, a small bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne! All the guests made themselves at home on the dance floor and had a great time!
